EBERHARD & CO.
Like the founders of other famous watch-making manufactures of that time
„ Georges-Emile Eberhard „ ( 1865 – 1926 ) became self-employed at a relatively young age.
1887
At the age of 22 he took up the profession of his father and became an apprentice for fine watch-making in St. Imier. Besides that, he not only manufactured the pocket watches and chronographs, but also repaired them.
G.-E. Eberhard also started to market its watches himself.
Due to the very high quality and the exactness of the Eberhard products the circle of customers grew enormous. The old work-shop became too small.
1907
Move to the new plant.
Especially with the armed forces, with scientists and sports men the chronograph was very popular. This in return helped to Eberhard products to obtain an excellent reputation.
1919
Georges-Emile Eberhard introduces his two sons, Georges and Maurice, into company affairs.
The company name was changed to „Eberhard & Co. „ and their first wrist watch chronographs were presented to the public.
1930
The first wrist watch with automatic winding mechanism left the company.
1935
Eberhard placed its initial two-press wrist watch chronograph in the market.
1938
Several chronograph models were to follow with an additional 12 hour counting mechanism.
1939
During this year the manufacture attracts special attention as for the first time in the history of the wrist watch „ a chronograph – Rattrapante with 30-minutes and as a novum; 12 hour counting mechanism was presented.
1968
Eberhard & Co managed to bring the following newly developped models quickly into serial production: various watch frequences of 36 000 half swings per hour as well as the first electronic clockworks.
1987
The 100th anniversary of the company was celbrated with a special wrist watch chronograph, the model CHRONOMASTER.
1995
Eberhard also introduces a modell with drag hand, based on the approved calibre Valjoux 7750.
2005
Eberhard presents the new model „ TEMERARIO „
and with its extravagant appearance the Temerario Chrono 4 will certainly find its admirers.
